I spent twenty years working hard in the financial services industry. With that hard work came promotions, opportunities and eventually a seat at the decision-making table. Looking back, I can see how I was always nudging the conversation at that table in a different direction. I had amazing colleagues and they gave me the opportunity wto put some of my ideas into practice and dive into the work I now define myself by. As the "Director of Transformation," I was tasked with digging deep into the company’s every process, finding out what worked for people. I studied the processes and the people who carried them out, and worked to create as much alignment, energy and efficiency as possible. My personal goal was to make sure every employee loved their job and felt as little frustration as possible as they carried it out. I wanted to make work better for them.
A move to Vancouver in 20__ brought me to a place of re-thinking my career. Looking for a change in direction and to build community on the west coast, I enrolled in the coaching program at Royal Roads University. Taking that step represented my first conscious career decision. What emerged from it was a container for my work as a coach, one that has brought a deep sense of legitimacy and fulfillment to my every-day.
As a coach for both individuals and organizations, I get to ask questions and look for patterns, to make connections between seemingly disparate bits of information. I work through all of this with my clients, who start to see their own work in a whole new way. I do not offer solutions or make prescriptions, but the solutions present themselves and offer up the opportunity for transformational change.
Ultimately, I hope to guide my clients to a place where they feel as aligned and energized by their work as I do with mine. I want my clients to learn the impact that conscious-interactions can make, how choosing to show-up with intention can help them move forward in a whole new way. I want every client to learn to lead by design and to understand that doing so will help them reach their goals and achieve their dreams.
